Does anyone have that picture with the guy wearing the shirt that says something like "This is what a real feminist looks like"? I need it. It was a black shirt with white writting, and I think the gentleman was bald and had a graying beard.

Thanks!

I hope you will be using this for good.

Its Bill Bailey, a comedian, and the t-shirts are the work of the Fawcett Society of which I am a member, and if you don't know what it is, you'd better read and find out...

I thought it had something to do with that movement, but I wasnt sure. I dont know if "furthering my education, so I can make my arguement better" in regards to things like this is a "good" thing or not. Very little having to do with me could be concidered "good". :)

I enjoy learning new things, and seeing other peoples opinions. Mostly so I can steal a bastardized form of it to use on people, but, being a more well rounded smart person is good, I think. (the jury is still out on if Im smart or not.)

http://tigerbeatdown.blogspot.com/2009/06/ned-hepburn-and-gus-menary-aint-no.html got linked by someone I know on Facebook, and we have a small "discussion". I want to look at other things, to weight my opinion on what is written there. The picture is good material, to guage certain reactions, if I choose to go that route.

Thank you kindly!

the shirt is interesting. I bought one for Ben and he has worn it out in public, but has also felt the need to soften it by saying 'my girlfriend made me wear it'. I toy with wearing mine to work, but am slightly nervous about it being seen as a political statement. But then, I also think, in my world 'I am a feminist' is about as politically radical (or should be) as saying 'I am not a racist', and it makes me sad to think that I'm still not 100% comfortable wearing it.

Would you wear one? That website has a bunch of people doing so - I suspect the only one Americans woudl recognise is Patrick Stewart though.

I don't know if I'd wear one a lot. Not because I'm afraid. What is there to be afraid of? Some group of people jumping out of the bushes to attack me, because of my shirt? Not likely. A more likely scenario would be someone like the person whos blog I linked to "calling me out". Then I'd have to defend myself against her, and it would just be tedious. When someone has the opinion she has ("Everyone is sexist but people who believe what I do")(not that she isn't herself sexist: "all men everywhere anywhere forever are sexist." can you say hypocrite?) you cant reason with that. It'd be like taking the hood off a KKK member and trying to tell them that blacks/jews/whatever are their equal.

Well, I think I'd wear one in certain company, but I wouldn't rock it all the time. I'm not a traditional "feminist", and I don't know if I'd feel right wearing that shirt. Yes, I support equality and similar things, but I think those are battles to be chosen, not to invite for discussion with some mouth breather at the mall/gas station/library/where ever, who only has 3 brain cells slamming together causing the bulk of their argument to be "derp you cant be a feminist, because you have a dick", or something along those ignorant lines.

I don't see a need to "soften it". Supporting causes is cool and everything. *shrug* I don't pretend to understand people of your and his intellectual magnitude, I just try to not look like the mouth breathing proles I hate so much, when I'm in your company.
